I also wrote piece for Mail on sat. which they gave huge spread to and even included a mention in the editorial - Dorothy Byrne called it "stunning" Lots of very nice emails from people all saying how powerful it was. Just spoke to Iyad Allawi - first PM of Iraq under transitional govt - because Aida wanted me to send a copy of the tape to Allawi's wife - who lives here and when I rang to get the address - he picked up the phone because he's visiting and he said it was excellent and sent his congratulations to all the team. You're always a delight to work with - but you were exceptional on this - and totally vindicated in your decision to bring as good a camera as possible - all those amazing end of the lens shots made the programme! When I think of those first desperate few hours when I couldnt imagine how we would get anything - compared to what you managed to film - it was extraordinary - thank you. To the next time....... |
